Summary:  Under the direction of the supervisor, the primary role of the Magnesium Chloride Production Operator is to assure Safety, Environmental, Engagement, Quality, and Production goals are met in all assigned MgCl2 products and the loading of MgCl2 brine railcars and trucks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

  • Assures that the following safety/operating items are completed/maintained (Safe Work Permits, Equipment Check Lists, LOTO Procedures, 6S Standards, Safety Inspections, Safety  Observations)
  • Capable of operating equipment and completing all tasks required in the MgCl2 processing / DE Sulfating areas including bagging, and loading areas; forklift certification required. 
  • Assures that quality parameter for MgCl2 Flake and Brine are met.
  • Assures that lab samples are taken and delivered to the Quality Control Lab as required.
  • Completes daily sample analyses each shift as required
  • Completes daily equipment checks and writes Work Orders for required corrective actions
  • Maintains 6s standards and utilizes 6s audits to continuously improve
  • Fills in for Day Shift Supervisor or operating positions, as required
  • Maintains the MgCl2 warehouse so that all products are organized, safely stored and that inventories are accurate
  • Oversees the operation of the highway brine production process and assures products are within outlined specifications, stored correctly, and required information is completed.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections as required. 
  • Assures Safety  Observations are completed as required
  • Maintains accuracy and timeliness for department KPI's.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma and previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to effectively oversee the assigned area of responsibility and perform the tasks listed below and above. Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information. Must be able to effectively navigate an ERP system to issue work requests and review inventory.

In addition to the requirements for underwritten communications, it is essential that verbal communications are in English and are clear, concise easily understood by others. This is particularly important when communicating via radio.

Mathematical and Reasoning Ability and Skills:  The ability to accurately perform basic math functions.  Ability to collect and accurately assemble data in a logical manner. Testing will be conducted for aptitude.
