Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite.

The Role:

As the Machining Shift Leader, you will direct and coordinate manufacturing activities and have responsibility for a very large group of employees on assigned shift including first line group leaders.  The work is of a difficult and involved nature where a high level of independent judgment and discretion are exercised.

What You'll Do:

  • Train, develop and evaluate subordinates.

  • Provide leadership in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.

  • Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.

  • Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group.

  • Administer company policies.

  • Manage safety, cost, schedule, quality and delivery requirements.

  • Responsible for attaining departmental SQCRE targets (Safety, Quality, Cost, Responsiveness and Environment).

  • Maintain safety and 5 S standards.

  • Comply with the terms of labor agreements.

  • Assist in forward planning in areas of responsibility.

  • Implement and support GMS

  • Implement enablers to promote and enhance teamwork among all employees.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing/machining environment

  • Understanding of basic mechanical concepts.

  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

  • Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output.

  • Knowledgeable of GMS
