This position has the responsibility to lead the Machine Trades team. This role interacts closely with the Product and Operations Engineering teams to provide innovative and cost-effective product and tooling solutions. This role will have direct oversight of the Landscape Forms journeyman machinist program. Key elements of this role include team member development, management of new product tooling and engineering prototyping, providing meaningful work and role clarity to the Machine Trades team, and building processes that ensure team success.

How You Contribute:
- Lead, coach and develop Machine Trades Crafters fostering positive growth mindset, ensuring accountability and maintaining best practices.
- Build a collaborative and cohesive team among machinists and colleagues in Operations Engineering, Product Engineering, Maintenance and Manufacturing.
- Foster team member project ownership, autonomy, and effectiveness.
- Develop and manage Machine Trades Studio budget and maintain transparent system for labor and resource tracking.
- Demonstrate strong project management methodology.
- Implement metrics to drive team performance and accountability.
- Engage the team on department and company-wide strategy goals.
- Participate in Tool Room strategic planning with Engineering and Design leadership.
- Ensure safety guidelines are followed and promote the use of safe practices.
- Standardization of work processes.
Criteria for Success:
A two or four-year degree in business or technology, or Journeyman Machinist plus five years leading teams in a production environment is an advantage for the candidate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, blueprint reading, Mastercam and project management. Experience in machining, tooling design, programming, metal fabrication, product performance testing, and knowledge of the properties of material used in site furniture such as steel, aluminum, concrete, wood, and plastics is desired.
This person must possess a high level of written and verbal communication with a variety of audiences. Must have the ability to give clear instruction and engage team members in projects.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The environment is mostly office but will include work in a shop environment that is noisy and dirty. Travel up to 10% is possible. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand, sit or walk for up to 5 hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the principal accountabilities.
