ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of Machine Operator:

• Operators must wear a bump cap at all times while on the line.
• Make minor adjustments to machinery as needed.
• Supply own or company issued hand tools and have with you on line.
• Supply/load trays, flexible packaging or cartons into machines.
• Perform necessary assignments on line.
• Have successfully gone through Lock Out Tag Out training.
• Count product as needed.
• Notepad and pen for taking notes are required to be successful in position.
• Must be able to observe machine operations at all times.
• Place product or scrap into designated color-coded containers.
• Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is packed. Remove/sort unacceptable product.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.s) at all times.
• Verbally communicate instructions, problems, etc. to co-workers, supervisors/leads and employees from all departments.
• Set up scales, checkweighers, and printers.
• Foreign materials found in product or ingredient needs to be reported to a supervisor/lead immediately.
• Read scales to check packaging weights and adjust packaging machines accordingly. (Adjust and setup Checkweigher as needed)
• Read and understand bagger/cartoner/code date programs. (Adjust and setup printers as needed)
• Pre-run equipment prior to startup.
• Tear down equipment at shutdown.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS of Machine Operator:

• Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs with little assistance.
• Push/pull items up to 50lbs with assistance.
• Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
• Reaching with arms/hands throughout shift.
• Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting during shift.
• Ability to see, hear, and talk.
• Ability to work in moderate noise levels; hearing protection is required in all areas.
• Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
• Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
• Stand eight to twelve hours or longer per shift.
• Ability to distinguish colors and know what they mean.
• Ability to work in variable temperatures, weather conditions and wet, humid areas.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
• Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
• Will work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and vibration.

Skills:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.

Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:

• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
• 1-3 years of experience in a Machine Operator role
