Machine Operator I

The Machine Operator I is responsible for the efficient operation of sawing machines at the plant while also keeping up with the flow of production. The Machine Operator I has attention to detail and is proactive in identifying areas of improvement amongst the equipment. This is an entry level Machine Operator position
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS DEMONSTRATED:
Must possess an understanding of production flow and equipment operation. Ideal candidate will have the demonstrated ability to learn and retain basic technical knowledge regarding machine centers. Additionally, candidate should have knowledge and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Essential Functions:

1. Ensure that sawing machines are operating efficiently and safely
2. Responsible for machine center cleanliness
3. Perform daily preventative maintenance, including: daily greasing, maintaining fluids, changing saws and inspecting belts
4. Identify and propose changes related to equipment that could use improvement
5. Participate in daily QMR's as assigned
6. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Demonstrate a commitment to safety, continuous improvement and teamwork
2. Ability to learn and retain basic technical knowledge regarding saw and machine centers
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Must be able to follow all LOTO procedures
5. Basic mathematical skills
