ROLE OVERVIEW
While working as a Thermoforming Machine Operator in the Plastics department you will be given an opportunity to develop your skills through our training programs. You start at an entry-level position to learn the basics and have the chance to progress and become a Machine Operator. You will have various opportunities to cross-train and develop new skill sets for a successful career at Amcor.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE:
- 12-hour rotating shift (6:30-6:30) switch from days to nights every few days. Employees work either 3 or 4 shifts in a row. Each set of shifts is either days or nights. In-between those sets of shifts, employees get 1, 3, 4 or 7 days off in a row depending on where they are in the 28 day shift rotation.
COMPENSATION: $23.15/hour + premiums, including Double Time on Sunday's and Holidays
Pay Progression: After probationary period (400 hours), $25.05/hour + premiums! After 1 year, the pay increases to $27.23/hour!
Referral bonus of up to $5,000!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (some specific tasks and duties for getting the job done):
- Set up, operate, and adjust machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Supply machines with resins and with packing supplies from satellite areas.
- Make roll changes, take samples, label and pack product, and stretchwrap finished loads.
- Conduct certain quality tests and monitor product to ensure conformance to spec.
- Make inventory transactions. Restock unused resins.
- Move waste and recycle loads to specified area, so Production Suppliers can pick up.
- Other duties as assigned by supervision.
THERMOFORMING OPERATORS GET TO:
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities.
- Promotes safety culture by positively communicating safety concerns/risks to co-workers, Leads, Supervisors, Managers, visitors, and all others in the facility.
- Set up, operate, and adjust machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Loads roll of plastic tray stock onto press using overhead hoist.
- Threads tray stock into molding press, then into trim press
- Wraps finished trays in plastic bag and places in shipping box
- Forms cardboard shipping boxes; may change scrap boxes.
- Supply machines with resins and with packing supplies from satellite areas.
- Make roll changes, take samples, label and pack product, and stretch wrap finished loads.
- Conduct certain quality tests and monitor product to ensure conformance to spec.
- Make inventory transactions. Restock unused resins.
- Move waste and recycle loads to specified area.
- Performs general clean-up of machines and work area Performs other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated extrusion machine competencies or ability to demonstrate them within prescribed training timeframe.
- Ability to use computer keyboard, mouse, and printer for entering and documenting production settings and data.
- Mobile equipment license or ability to obtain license.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.
AUTHORITY:
- To shut down or lock out equipment reasonably believed to be hazardous.
- To give final release on product within specifications.
- To make good faith efforts to troubleshoot and correct problems or behaviors
