Machine Operator

Job Description
Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Machine Operator to work out of the Chicago, IL facility.
The Machine Operator must safely work and operate all equipment in assigned secondary process areas. The operator is responsible for assisting in troubleshooting of equipment, supply with material for recut and must demonstrate understanding of all operations. In addition, the operator is required to perform set-ups. This will be a 2nd shift position (2PM - 10PM).
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Coordinate with internal and external departments as necessary.
• Perform setups, operational checks and complete a visual inspection of recut, swage
• Monitor product quality.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Train other employees when assigned by Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Make minor maintenance adjustments to machines with proper training when instructed by Supervisor.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Must demonstrate understanding of all Recut positions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
• Visual Acuity to read and record weights and numbers.
• Measures dimensions of tube using tape gauge

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:

• Must be forklift certified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
• Must be able to lift 60lbs.
• Manufacturing/ Industrial work environment
• The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
