Position Summary:
Priority Envelope is a leading manufacturer and supplier of custom envelopes made for the direct marketing and transactional mail industries. We have an immediate need for 12 Hour day shift Machine Inspector / Operators at our facility located in Nevada, Iowa.
The 12 Hour day shift Machine Operator is an entry level position that works from 6am to 6pm on a two week cycle of 4 days-on (Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) and 3 days-on (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday). The position starts at $17.00 per hour ($16.00/hr plus a $1.00/hr shift differential). The Machine Operator is responsible for final inspection and packaging envelopes for shipment. The position requires lifting, stacking, and computer software entry.
Essential Duties Include:
- Understand and embrace continuous improvement initiatives: support a team environment, improve production processes, follow all standard work and expose production issues to the leadership team.
- Operate converting equipment by following all established standard work.
- Performs sign offs, quality checks, inspect job samples and provides breaks to associates, as needed.
- Maintain and record job times and quantities for reporting, job tickets and computer software entry.
- Monitor and ensure safety compliance and good housekeeping, including but not limited to:
- Cleaning/washing equipment parts
- Keeping carton area clean and orderly/breaking down cartons
- Cleaning gum boxes as needed
- Cleaning around and under equipment/gathering used rags
- Emptying/disposal of waste and recycle containers
- Stacking/organizing skids
- Clear jams, restart machinery and roll tend (when needed) on converting equipment.
- Inspect, pack and stack finished product.
- Obtaining and prepare carton supplies for each envelope job.
- Review and match samples to job ticket specification.
- Participate in and promote team problem solving and process improvement.
- Additional duties and projects, as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification.
- Good mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to read and use a ruler.
- Able to apply a variety of written instructions furnished in written or oral form; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedural manuals, and job tickets.
