Duties

What to Expect

  • Plans and implements the various phases and projects of the program and handles problems and deviations in accordance with standing instructions, and established procedures. Assists in carrying out program projects, primarily in program planning, staff training, and administrative duties and annual budget. Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of recreation aids. Ensures the work is completed in compliance with established procedures and instructions. Trains new employees, instructs proper procedures and solves problems related to work.
  • Assists in the management of Lunga Park Resale Shop. Makes reservations and collects fees. Maintains inventory and sales records in compliance internal control procedures. Checks campers in and out and inspects sites upon patron arrival and departure. Assists the Manager in organizing special events. Supervises safety operations. Reports any requirements for maintenance, cleaning and/or repair to the Manager as required. Assumes operational duties in the absence of the Manager such as renting out boats and boat recovery.
  • Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
  • Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years¿ experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge and experience in a variety of recreational activities with preference at a lodging or campground facility. Must have knowledge of equipment, supplies and procedures in order to maintain efficient functioning of the operation. Must have the ability to work independently. Must be able to work irregular hours. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a CPR certification from the American Red Cross within one year of employment, and the Virginia Boater's Safety Certification within 3 months of employment. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
