This position will support the NASA EVA and Human Surface Mobility Program's (EHP) Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) Project SEI team - part of the Artemis portfolio at the NASA Johnson Space Center. You will be part of the LTV SEI Requirements, Interfaces and Verifications (RIV) sub-team and serve as the Interface Manager. In this role, you will coordinate with other projects, tech authorities, SMEs, etc. to create, review, update, and maintain interfaces and associated documents for the LTV project and LTV vendors.
Full time 100% onsite position located at Johnson Space Center, TX: option for hybrid with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week
What You'll Be Doing
As the interfaces manager, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Creating, updating, and maintaining our list of interfaces and associated documents
  • Strategizing interface document development appropriate for commercial contract structure
  • Assist with developing interface documents cross-project and cross-program to include defining timelines, statusing progress, and releasing documents (CRs, working groups, Control Boards)
  • Work cross-stakeholder inputs to interface documents (with other projects, technical authorities, SMEs, etc.)
  • Review CRs related to interfaces (external documents routed to LTV for review/comment) and other CRs, as needed
  • Provide input to LTV developed products and control plans
  • Assist with project lifecycle reviews (generated slide content, present as needed)
  • Working with LTV SEI Cross-Stakeholder Integration lead and Insight team to review interface deliverables from contractors and assisting with any needed planning/coordination across NASA internal teams
  • Assist the SEI V&V lead to help inform V&V and related activities for interfaces as vendors progress through lifecycle
  • Participate in meetings related to interfaces to maintain awareness of potential changes for interface requirements, and coordinate with stakeholders and Insight Team to provide impact assessments for management review and disposition

This position is available as a Senior Member of Technical Staff or Project Engineer
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, Science, or other applicable STEM areas
  • At least 3 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and program lifecycle environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle and associated milestone reviews
  • Working experience in CMW, SharePoint, and wiki pages
  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
  • Ability to work in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large technical community and influences teams across the NASA enterprise
  • Initiative and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Excellent teaming and leadership skills with an ability to multi-task across various issues/disciplines simultaneously
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner.
  • Experience working across diverse teams and many different engineering disciplines
  • Knowledge of space flight certification processes to ensure performance and safety requirements are met

Project Engineer
Same requirements as Senior Member of Technical Staff noted above, in addition to:
  • At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering, program lifecycle, and program management environment

  • Advanced degree in in engineering, Science, or other applicable STEM areas
  • More than 6 of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, years including experience in a systems engineering, program lifecycle, and program management environment
  • Knowledge of EVA systems and current technology
  • Knowledge of exploration mobility topics and technology
  • Demonstrated successful experience performing or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
  • Demonstrated successful experience performing or leading SEI analysis cycle tasks
  • Demonstrated successful management and leadership role experience
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with government and contractor personnel
  • Proven ability to successfully work across multiple organizations that contribute to mission success
  • Experience with International Partner and/or Commercial vendor integration and coordination
