Job Description:
Strict 75-mile radius rule • Include Current Driver's License when submitting • Do Co Jail-3.8 miles from Phoebe Main Campus • # beds Average around 600 prisoners at a time. • BLS, 2 years of experience required in specialty, no first-time travelers • Ratios- 6-7 nurses during day; 2 evenings, weekends and nights. • EMR- Document on paper charting. Can access Meditech but don't document in. • Weekend Requirement Every other weekend for evening and nights. Day shift no weekends unless volunteer to help for sick calls. • On call- One weekend per month for evening and night. • Holidays- Every other major holiday such as Christmas and Thanksgiving • Scrub Color- Green and white or all while. Need to wear a scrub jacket or vest. • Pharmacy 24/7 Use diamond correctional pharmacy. They deliver 6 days a week. • Shifts- Day shift varies: 630a, 7a, 8a---8 hr. shifts for day; evening shift and night shifts are 8's and 12's. Weekends are all 12-hour shifts. • Floor specific orientation- Attend one day Phoebe general then go to the jail for orientation for 30 days. They will be partnered up with ai preceptor for 30 days but after 2 weeks are mainly on own. • Common diagnosis / Types of patients- the jail nurse is a 24/7 clinic, they never close their doors. Nurse screens all new prisoners during intake (gather health info, meds, allergies, diagnosis, tb skin test placed); if have chronic conditions, they are rostered in chronic clinic. They will have very large med passes. Med passes are morning and evening primarily, with a noon pass as needed. They will do dressing changes, insulin checks, etc. There is a doctor and psychiatrist in weekly. PA is in 3x per weeks. On site mental health counselor is in M-F. Will handle urgent care issues as well such as sore throat, chest pain, etc. The prisoner will have to input their complaint on the kiosk. Nurses will do EKG on site (will train if have not done prior). Do have radiology on site but some will be done outside facility. Have tech that completes x ray. • Additional Notes- During day shift, run 6-7 nurses; evenings/weekends/nights run 2 nurses. • Additional Questions- Must have corrections background! Will have to complete a bkg check at the jail as well.
Requirements:
- Certifications: BLS and Covid Card
- Experience: Must have minimum 2 years of experience.
- License: Must have active GA or compact state license
