SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis continues to meet the evolving health care needs of our patients and community. Our 216-bed hospital is a state-designated Level III Trauma Center, a Level II Time Critical Diagnosis STEMI Center and specializes in obstetric and pediatric care, as well as many other specialties.
  • This position plays a key role in patient assessments, always with a focus on their comfort and well-being.
  • Handles medication administration with great care, staying vigilant for any potential side effects to ensure patient safety.
  • Offers thorough education to patients and their loved ones on managing health conditions, navigating treatment options, and understanding self-care strategies after leaving the hospital, as well as holistic wellness, available support, and the importance of follow-up care.
  • Always remains alert and mindful to maintain a secure environment for everyone.
  • Sometimes, you might be asked to conduct point-of-care testing, following our trusted guidelines.

Job Summary:
Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of license.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contributes to the assessment of patients and ensures the well-being of patients.
  • Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan including self-care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • May perform point of care testing according to policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

EXPERIENCE
  • No experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.

Licenses / Certifications:
