Assumes the responsibility for providing professional care to a designated patient population.
- Directs patient care according to hospital policies, procedures, and accepted standards of practice and care.
- Conducts patient assessments, including history and physical.
- Develops a plan of care for each patient using nursing process.
- Administers and records prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures.
- Leads the team in planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Assists the medical staff with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures.
- Participates in unit activities such as answering phones, call lights, distributing meals, environmental tasks, or other assigned duties.
- Directs team conferences, shift reports and care planning.
- Delivers personal care to assigned patients.
- Provides treatments and performs procedures as directed by the registered nurse.
