The Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (VAACC) is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 2 facility serving Veterans in 13 counties of Ohio. The VAACC is the parent facility for a Veterans Readjustment Counseling Center (Vet Center) located in downtown Columbus. The VAACC has education, training, and clinical affiliations with multiple accredited colleges and universities. The facility has established medical school affiliations with Ohio University and The Ohio State University, with resident rotations in physical medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and internal medicine. RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.
- Document plan of care and care given in patient's medical record.
- Verify transcription of physician's orders.
- Communicate pertinent patient data to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate.
- Assess and document patient response to medication that have been administered.
- Instruct patient/family regarding prescribed medications/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures that shall be accomplished.
- Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.
- Consistently apply VA customer service standards, demonstrating helpful, courteous, and respectful conduct at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have graduated from a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the ACEN at the time the program was completed.
- A full, active, and current license in at least one (1) state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- A minimum of two (2) years direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years. VA experience is desirable.
- A current CV which identifies the provider's education and professional qualifications commensurate with their specialty coinciding with the position posted.
- Must provide current proof of immunizations.
