Job description
- Within the state authorized scope of practice, participates in the coordination and care of assigned patients.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgments to implement the medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures necessary for the care of the patient, within the guidelines of his/her licensure.
- Provide nursing care and oversight by implementing the health care plan, including charting vital signs, application or changing of dressings and administering medications as prescribed.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
- Provide assistance with daily activities such as eating, bathing and ambulation.
- Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Provide patients and their families with emotional and psychological support.
- Participate in quality and process related initiatives.
- Orients others to the unit as assigned by educators/managers.
- Represents the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters.
- Floats to CCH outpatient clinical areas to assist in the coordination of care in an outpatient setting with appropriate orientation.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
- Performs other work-related tasks and activities as assigned or requested by manager or designee.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Massachusetts LPN License
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and must maintain certification
- Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 3 months of hire and must maintain certification
- Successful passage of CCH's Pharmacology exam
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia exam within three (3) months of hire
