The Licensed Practical Nurse II (LPN II) functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and performs delegated patient care functions. The work that is performed is done under the established policies and procedures of the institution and within the educational preparation, regulatory requirements for licensure and any additional advanced practice training (under the Alabama Board of Nursing 610-X-.05 Standardized Procedures for specific procedures). The LPN II will be expected to assess and analyze a given situation and make decisions within the limits of license practiced.
Work Hours: Full-time, 7am-7pm
Base Compensation: $17.26 to $23.11 per hour (based on experience)

Requirements
Education: Basic nursing education required for Practical Nurse licensure
Experience: One year experience in a clinical setting preferred. Acute care hospital experience preferred.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama. BLS required. See Competency Matrix for specific

LPN II Advanced Practice Course Completion: Annual completion of updates and demonstration of competency is required.
Equipment / Tools / Work Aids: Equipment used in the delivery of patient care plus telephone, fax, copier, personal computer and related software.
Specialized Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking and time management skills. Proficiency with clinical nursing tasks. The ability to form effective working relationships with employees, management, and physicians. Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements: Visual and hearing acuity. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to assist in moving patients/equipment involving a minimum of 50 pounds. Manual dexterity necessary to perform routine job task. Ability to meet attendance requirements of job.
