The Licensed Practical Nurse works under the general supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager and/or Medical Doctor. The nurse is responsible for adhering to the clinical practices, policies, and procedures of TCA Health within the LPN scope of practice to manage family planning in a specific patient population. Oversight of Medical Assistants may be required from time to time.
- Educate patients, employees, community groups, and health care professionals regarding family planning.
- Educate patients on contraceptive services, pregnancy testing and counseling, sexually transmitted infections, and preconception health services.
- Provide patient care in an ambulatory clinic setting while assisting providers with clinical procedures.
- Uses critical thinking skills to document patient care plans in the electronic medical record.
- Uses nursing process to solve problems as they arise in the clinic or at a patient event.
- Collaborate with Outreach Department; prepares for and attends outside events.
- Develop creative ways to engage patients to participate in care.
- Facilitate group patient trainings individually or in partnership with other health care providers.
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and/or project requirements.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and good work ethic; displays TCA’s core values and works well with others. Provides excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
- Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations as well as the expected code of conduct and ethics related to IT security, HIPPA, Infection Control, and Confidentiality.
