Disability Resource Network, Inc. is non-profit Day Program provider for the State of CT. DRN is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a DDS Day Program located in Bridgeport, CT. The program serves between30 to 40 individuals with developmental and sometimes physical disabilities who are 22 years or older.
The LPN will be primarily responsible for:
- managing client medical files
- sending and receiving Physician's Orders as well as other orders for protocols such as Seizure Protocols, Diabetic Protocols, Epi Pen Protocols, etc.
- conducting Fall Risk Assessments and creating Fall Risk Plans
- reviewing client files and assigning medical protocols
- liaison with RN and complete additional documentation as required
- pass and pour of medications (if DDS med-certified. If not, any hire will be sent for certification) and dispense insulin to diabetic individuals
- provide care for client illness/injuries that present during program
- general secretarial work during down time such as filing, answering phones, etc.
The LPN will operate under the license of an RN who is on call 24/7 and does regular site visits to review and sign off on documentation, conduct pass and pours, and conduct yearly OSHA training. The RN may delegate tasks to the LPN per DDS guidelines.
The position is Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a total of 30 hours per week, but there is availability for up to 40 hours if requested (8:00AM to 4:00PM). The position is not a strictly clinical position but instead is closed to a "school nurse" position of record keeping, minor first aid, and illness response. All applicants should be highly organized and able to work independently.
To be considered for this position, all applicants must:

-- Proficient in writing and speaking English, bi-lingual Spanish speaking is a plus!
