Consultative Medicine Clinic (a section of GIM) provides consultative medical care to patients that reside outside of Olmsted county in Minnesota. Consultative Medicine sees new patients to Mayo Clinic for an initial comprehensive evaluation. The LPN role in Consultative Medicine includes, but is not limited to, patient visits (face to face and via telephone) review of patient health history, medication review, immunization administration, focused nutrition assessments, and blood pressure visits. Telehealth interactions may include collecting pertinent information prior to their arrival to the clinic, researching prescription discrepancies, and/or facilitating prior authorization denials. The LPN collaborates daily with physicians, nursing colleagues, and support staff.
