Internship Support Professional

Status: Exempt, Full-Time, with a salary range of $68,000-$72,000

Location: On-Site; must be able to support both Waco and Temple offices; may opt to use Temple office as home office

Education Requirements: Master?s degree in counseling or related field and fully licensed status as a counselor (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)

Reports to: Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning

Position SUMMARY

The Internship Support Professional is a key position in ensuring high-quality client care by providing site supervision to Associate, Bachelor, and/or Graduate-level student interns. The Internship Support Professional will provide supervision and consultation to student interns in delivering support services to clients in all Starry programs, including, but not limited to, FAYS (Family and Youth Success), Fatherhood, Family Preservation, and STEP-UP Texas eligibility standards. The Internship Support Professional will provide clinical site supervision to an average of 10-14 student interns per semester, to include summer semesters.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILL BASED COMPETENCIES

  • Provide clinical site supervision to an average of 10-14 student interns per semester, or as required by Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning.
  • Provide supervision utilizing evidence-based practices in consultation and supervision, as well as clinical guidance utilizing evidence-based practices for use with individual, family, and group sessions
  • Ensure student interns meet weekly service goals of 8-12 weekly sessions, or as required by office Team Supervisor
  • Provide quality, weekly supervision, at a minimum of 1 hour per week, or as required by student intern?s University program
  • Provide clinical direction to students, as needed, in daily activities, including treatment planning and progress notes
  • Ensure students adhere to ethical standards and agency policies
  • Collaborate with University Faculty and staff to maintain positive University relationships
  • Advise students on professional resources as needed to provide quality care to clients
  • Provide constructive, written evaluations for students, at minimum twice per semester (midterm and final evaluation periods), or as indicated by University requirements.
  • Maintain proper supervisory records weekly to include supervisory notes and logs
  • Assist in ensuring student interns meet University graduation requirements by completing required type of services and minimum number of hours necessary for graduation requirements
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate groups for STARRY programs, including, but not limited to, FAYS, Fatherhood, Family Preservation, or STEP-UP Texas standards.
  • Conduct individual/family sessions, service navigation, or other services, at request of Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning, to assist other offices as needed

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Travel to assigned office(s) or satellite location(s), as needed, to fulfill supervision and other job duties
  • Complete all required trainings, including, but not limited to, HIPAA, Crisis Intervention, Cultural Humility, TBRI, Group trainings, and other Evidence-Based Curriculum, or as requested by Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning
  • Assist with clinical leadership responsibilities and reports as assigned by Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning
  • Attend meetings within and outside the agency related to programmatic and student issues
  • Complete monthly statistical sheets with outcome measures, while also monitoring those of their student interns
  • Computer skills to organize materials, narratives, correspondence, etc.
  • Maintain accurate mileage records
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients
  • Use ethical decision-making and seek guidance and supervision as needed from Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning
  • Transport children, as necessary, to counseling sessions, groups and shelter
  • Utilize healthy coping skills to reduce secondary trauma

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master?s degree in counseling or related field and fully licensed status as a counselor (LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)
  • Experience: Four years experience applicable to the position responsibilities.
  • Approved criminal background report. Able to satisfy all applicable requirements and DFPS standard requirements
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Capable of maintaining a flexible work schedule
  • Must be self-motivated with good organization and time management skills
  • Commitment to Trauma-Informed Care
  • Must possess good written, verbal, social media, and electronic communication skills
  • Able to organize, file, and retrieve information
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to make changes as needed to meet expectations
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Able to operate office machines (e.g. copy, telephone, transcriber, fax)
  • Must be computer literate with ability to maintain records electronically

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Reports to the Director of Clinical and Experiential Learning and collaborates with Team Supervisors and program Directors.
