French American + International is a PK-12 independent school in San Francisco.  Founded in 1962, the school is a multicultural, multilingual educational institution with over 1,100 students across an urban campus in the heart of the city.  Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Lower School Principal, the English Coordinator will be responsible for the pedagogical coordination of the English curriculum PreK-5 in conjunction with the other members of the educational team, aligning best practices in 21st-century education with the mission of the school. 

This position will begin one week before teachers return to school in August.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Lower School English Coordinator to harmonize and update the bilingual program in the Lower School in line with the French curriculum and the California Standards
  • Meet regularly with English teachers at the same grade level to provide pedagogical support in the organization of the English curriculum
  • Research and develop innovative curriculum and assessments
  • Maintain digital tools in collaboration with the Academic Technology coordinator 
  • Administration of MAP tests (organization, analysis, and use to inform instruction ) 
  • Visit classes, observe and advise French teachers under the direction of the Lower School Principal 
  • Prepare, organize and lead pedagogical meetings
  • Participate in the elaboration of a yearly staff development plan and assist in the search for staff development resources, including digital media
  • Assist in updating the school’s online curriculum and monitor classroom pages on the school platform
  • Facilitate the visibility of the program and projects in the school community through communication with other members of the Lower School team (articles in School publications and website)
  • Assist teachers in researching materials/books/technology used in the classroom, leveling books and other resources and building class libraries
  • Assist in redesigning and updating report cards
  • Assist in the implementation of the “Projet d’école” with the Lower School English Coordinator and the Principal
  • Participate in all relevant teacher meetings and after school parent meetings and student events
  • Promote the French American International School philosophy and objectives

 Experience

  •  Excellent communication skills in English and French
  •  5+ years teaching experience
  •  Previous experience with curriculum coordination and development. 

 Education and special skills

  • Primary Teaching Credential or Masters in Education
  • Evidence of ongoing in-service training with regard to enhancing student learning, assessment, and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of primary school programs
  • Leadership skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Computer skills
  • Experience in an international school setting

Salary range for this position is $62,567 to $105,598, based on experience and qualifications.
