Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher

Cardinal Montessori School, located in Woodbridge, VA, is looking for a passionate Lower Elementary Montessori teacher to join our faculty. Our current Lower Elementary Teacher who has been teaching at CMS for over 20 years will be retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

The successful candidate will be co-teaching/shadowing the Lower Elementary teacher during the 2024-2025 school year before assuming the Lead Teacher role. The position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm during the school year with possible summer hours.

With roots stretching back to 1959, Cardinal Montessori School (CMS) is the oldest AMS Montessori school in Prince William County. CMS provides a child-centered education for children from the ages of 3 to 12 (Pre-K thru 6th grade). Lead Teacher Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree required
• Must have AMS/AMI Lower Elementary Montessori certification (LE I required, LE I-II preferred)
• Must have strong references
• Understanding of and commitment to Montessori philosophy
• Must have knowledge of Montessori equipment and how to teach students using the Montessori equipment
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance community
• Must have a warm, supportive, and patient attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
• Be a qualified, enthusiastic, energetic, and nurturing individual
• Minimum of 3 years elementary teaching experience
• Completion of a background check and fingerprints required

Duties and responsibilities:

• Work as a team with the current Lower Elementary Teacher and two to three assistant teachers
• Lesson planning, providing one on one lessons, and guiding Lower Elementary students (1-3 graders)
• Commitment and respect for the Montessori philosophy and the developmental needs of children in this age group
• Promoting the social, physical, and intellectual growth of the children under their care
• Actively develop and maintain positive parent relationship
• Maintain an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence

Salary range: commesurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
