Heavy Equipment Lowboy Driver

Reports to: Dispatch Manager

General Purpose:

This position will be required to safely load and secure heavy equipment to be moved from one location to another: specifically, to and from job sites within 4 hours from our main office in Canton, Ohio.

Essential Functions:

• Operates a lowboy for transporting heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, etc.
• Maintains vehicle safety in traffic situations and all other safety policies and procedures set by the company.
• Operates various types of heavy equipment to be able to load and off-load on lowboy trailer.
• Conducts pre-trip inspection checklist on operating equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Carries out detailed instructions, takes directions to job sites, but must also use good judgement in decision-making to work autonomously, without direct supervision.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Required:
  • 5 years of experience in hauling heavy equipment with permit loads that require escorts for: over width, over length, over height, and overweight
  • Class A CDL
  • Hazmat endorsement
  • Tanker endorsement
• Preferred:
  • OSHA 10 – Required within 2 weeks after date of hire
