Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Low Voltage Systems Apprentice is responsible for assisting with the installation of Low Voltage Systems (Surveillance, Access Control, Intrusion, and Audio/Visual) projects. Focused on Customer Centricity, this is a entry level position where an employee with a solid foundation of mechanical aptitude, a positive attitude, the desire to learn, and the energy to work hard will develop valuable technical and customer service skills that will enable him or her to grow within the LV Systems Team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Low Voltage Systems ApprenticeLow Voltage:
  • Installs structured cabling systems including but not limited to category 6, 6A, optical fiber, access control, security, and audio/visual cabling within a commercial building and/or construction environment, including terminations and testing.
  • Installs access control system cabling, controllers, door strikes, magnetic locks, sensors, etc.
  • Installs intrusion system cabling, panels, sensors, alerts, etc.
  • Installs surveillance system cabling, cameras, sensors, servers, etc.
  • Installs audio/visual system cabling, control gear, displays, projectors, receivers, transmitters, speakers, audio amplifiers, etc.
  • Works safely at all times, adhering to all company, customer, state, and federal safety rules and regulations.
  • Form positive working relationships with others, including co-workers, managers, customers, and contractors.
  • Take direction from LV Systems Manager and teammates.
  • Support the LV Systems Technicians he or she is assigned to work with.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
The Senior Systems ApprenticeLow Voltage may also:
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the Low Voltage Systems team and the entire company.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education/Credentials
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in construction, installing electrical wiring, or installing electrical / electronic gear is preferred.
  • High competency in mathematics and physics is preferred.
  • High competency in working with hands is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Low Voltage Systems Apprentice will work in several different environments, including construction sites and existing commercial buildings. Within each, this position may require to be in an attic, crawl space, on a ladder, or in a manlift. Areas covered are mainly Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, with occasional travel to other areas depending on customer and project requirements. This position requires the regular use of hand tools and mechanical equipment that produces a loud noise. This position will occasionally require after-hours and weekend work depending on customer or project requirements.
