Job description

Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Loss Control Manager is responsible for the overall safety processes throughout their region. The incumbent provides efficient and effective safety consulting services to the customers in accordance with department and company policies and procedures. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the leadership and professional development of Safety Management Consultants that report to this position.

  • Lead the delivery of Loss Control services to improve and maintain policyholder profitability and retention of customers.
  • Mentor Safety Management Consultants, Loss Control Consultants and Analysts to build a high functioning team focused on superior customer service, profitability of workload and technical expertise.
  • Demonstrate a leadership approach that inspires teamwork, accountability and delivers positive outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, agents, and internal business partners, such as, Claims and Underwriting through clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to direct reports which include supervision of work, training and personnel functions.
  • Adhere to Department and Company Performance standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in order to set the strategic vision to deliver effective results.
  • Utilize exceptional safety leadership skills, effective communication and business acumen to support retention and new business goals.
  • Provide coaching to direct reports based on quality assurance process results. Ensure team members continue to develop the necessary skills in alignment with the direction of the company.
  • Create and sustain a supportive team environment of actionable feedback, mutual accountability, inclusivity, and a collaborative approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Travel within assigned territory (by car and plane) for company meetings, job shadowing, policy holders/agency presentations and other duties as assigned. Leverage technology to provide remote service and guidance.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Loss Control in the insurance field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct managerial experience in this field is preferred.
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering or related technical field.
  • A (CSP) Certified Safety Professional designation will be necessary to have, or be working towards.
  • Utilize analytical tools and data analysis strategies to measure performance.
  • The individual must be able to train and support direct reports and peers in the use of laptop computers and associated software for the purpose of internal "paperless process" and customer service communication.
