Reports to: Head of Upper School
Position Summary: The Lovett School, an independent, coeducational day school in Atlanta seeks a long-term substitute Spanish teacher for the period February 2024 through May 2024. Preferred applicants will have the qualifications to teach the content of the courses (Spanish through Level III) and experience teaching middle or high school students.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Carries out all responsibilities associated with a normal teaching load in partnership with the Language Department Head and teaching teams
- Execute a purposeful curriculum, multi-modal instruction, and a variety of assessments in order to reach a diverse community of learners (academically, culturally, racially, religiously, etc.).
- Support the established classroom culture of belonging for all students.
- Working in concert with a teaching team and following through on shared plans.
- Providing regular and timely student feedback and informative parent communication
- Conducting tutorials during scheduled afternoon times (Monday through Thursday) and optional morning tutorials by student appointment.
- NOTE: a normal teaching load is 2-3 preps, 4 total sections of 15-18 students each with 3 planning periods.
- Participates in faculty, department, team, and grade-level meetings.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in Spanish or a related field.
- Self-directed with good time management skills and the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities.
- Love of working with adolescents and a willingness to engage them as whole students, balancing care and compassion with challenge and accountability.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning community.
- Professionalism, consistent application of school policies, and regular and reliable attendance.
