Job Description

 

IFF in Newark, DE is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to join our team! 
 
This role will work with the Asset Scheduler and Raw Material Planner and direct the Warehouse Controllers to coordinate production planning, raw material deliveries and finished product shipments. 


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
⦁    Safety/Health/Environment/Quality
⦁    Ensure all operations are carried out in accordance with EHS policies and practices.
⦁    Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are developed and followed for all logistics tasks.
⦁    Participate in site safety programs, behavioral based safety activities, audits and emergency response activities as required.
⦁    Model behaviors that demonstrate a high regard for the safety and health of individuals and the site as well as the environment.
⦁    Encourage high level of safety participation and commitment from others.
⦁    Comply with external and internal requirements and regulations (IFF, OSHA, DNREC, etc).
⦁    Understand and follow Process Safety Management Practices.
⦁    Ensure operations follow GMP practices.
⦁    Logistics Coordination
⦁    Supervise Warehouse Controllers by Assigning work;
⦁    Training employees;
⦁    Counsels, advises, re-instructs and disciplines; Approving vacations and other time-off; Administering disciplinary actions;
⦁    Assigning formal training.
⦁    Recognizes and reinforces positive behavior and outstanding performance Handles and responds to bargaining unit complaints and grievances at step 1.
⦁    Develop and implement work processes to improve and standardize raw material ordering and finished product shipments.
⦁    Coordinate with contracted warehouses to resolve issues that may lead to interruptions of raw material supply or finished goods release.
⦁    Responsible for ensuring raw materials on site are available to produce the planned production.
⦁    Responsible for shipment of finished goods to contracted warehouse and ensuring product is correctly transferred in SAP.
⦁    Production Coordination
⦁    Work with the Asset Scheduler to develop the monthly production plan.
⦁    Understand product priorities and communicate them to the maintenance coordinator and shifts.
⦁    Communicate lots and process orders to shifts.
⦁    Administration/Financial
⦁    Ensure required activities in their focus area are carried out with appropriate documentation (MOC's, SOP's, files, etc.);
⦁    Meet commitments for timelines and completeness of all documentation including operational reports, timecard approval, personnel records etc.
⦁    Inventory Champion
⦁    Lead kaizen events - opportunity identification and prioritization.
⦁    Capture inventory reduction opportunities for the site in OTT, maintain benefit tracking and project timings.
⦁    Work with planning and finance to value opportunity and assign timing.
⦁    Attend Tier 3 and 5 meetings as appropriate.
⦁    Determine action plan for items behind target.
⦁    Work with action owners to drive progress of site initiatives.
⦁    Escalate issues or concerns to Supply Review.
⦁    Manage project pipeline to deliver against annual inventory targets.

Job Requirements

 

⦁    BS degree in Sciences or Business and 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations or equivalent experience required (2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred);
⦁    In lieu of a BS Degree, 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations is required, along with 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

⦁    Excellent computer aptitude, communication and interpersonal skills
⦁    Computer skills - Email, SAP, Word Processing
⦁    Self-directed and self-motivated.
⦁    Demonstrated ability or capability to lead and supervise employees and effectively inter­ face with other departments in a team environment.

  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment preferred.

⦁    Working knowledge of production operations and process changes.


 Preferred:
⦁    Experience using and understanding of Enterprise Resource Plam1ing (ERP) and software systems such as SAP®, FMEA+, database/SQL infrastructures, and document control.
⦁    Basic knowledge of quality control procedures, processing equipment and plant utilities, or equivalent experience at a manufacturing plant; pharmaceutical or food additive plants preferred.
