Anticipated Hiring Range: $30.04/HR - $35.30/HR DOQ/E
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 40HR/Week, Non-Shift

The Department:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Works with the department's Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) to schedule and coordinate routine maintenance of all vehicles and apparatus between maintenance facilities. Drives vehicles between facilities and stations
  • Manages the department's VHF and 800 MHz radio systems and Equipment. Coordinates programming, repair, and maintenance
  • Assists with the acquisition, inspection, and delivery of new apparatus. Manages and schedules installation of aftermarket equipment, such as radios, vehicle striping, loose equipment, etc.
  • Assists with the Research and Development, and Apparatus Teams
  • Assists with the coordination of routine maintenance of all Fire facilities with Facilities Management division
  • Works with the department's EVT to perform or coordinate preventive maintenance, testing and repairs on equipment including heavy and light apparatus, small engine power tools, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs), ladders, hoses, radios, pagers, cell phones and pumps
  • Purchases and stocks uniforms, tools, personal protective equipment and all equipment carried on department apparatus
  • Responds to emergency scenes to provide logistics support including delivery of supplies and Equipment. May also serve as Staging Area Manager
  • Coordinates and conducts annual SCBA inspections, flow tests, and fit testing of personnel
  • Coordinates inspection and repair of all personal protective equipment
  • Attends administrative meetings as a department representative
  • Accurately maintains logs and other required reports and records
  • Provides customer service consistent with the stated values of the Town and department
  • Abides by and follows appropriate Standard Operating Guidelines, Administrative Directives, and Memos
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years' technical or trade school in related field

Experience: One (1) year closely related fire service experience; or equivalent combination. Direct fire department experience is preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License
  • Valid Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire
  • CPR/BLS Provider Certification
  • Successful completion of the Work Capacity Test (PACK Test) as per Department Guidelines
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire:
    • ICS-100, Introduction to Incident Command System or equivalent
    • ICS-200, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents or equivalent
    • ICS-700, National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
    • ICS-800, National Response Framework, An Introduction

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SCBA Technician Certification
  • Emergency Medical Technician-Basic
  • Colorado Metropolitan Certification Board Driver/Operator Utility, Pumper, and Aerial; or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe manner consistent with Town and department guidelines
  • Knowledge of various computer software and hardware applications
  • Ability to learn and use various computer software applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to learn, operate, and maintain firefighting and emergency medical services equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement codes, standards, and regulations such as NFPA, DOT, and ISO
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to operate within the National Incident Management System
  • Physical ability to perform heavy work and to access equipment and apparatus
  • Knowledge of personal exposure protection and prevention
  • Ability to understand and abide by federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and protocols
  • Knowledge of Town specific information as related to community facilities and locations

Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary work for long periods of time
  • Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:
  • Work primarily in a clean, comfortable environment

Equipment Used:
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment

Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, fingerprint analysis, polygraph and psychological exam prior to commencing employment.
