THE ROLE

The Operations department is the heartbeat of Auction Technology Group’s (ATG) products and services, consisting of three teams: Customer Experience, Client Services and Logistics. In North America, the department remit covers the Proxibid (PXB), BidSpotter (BSC) and Wavebid (WVB) brands. From product adoption and training, through to best practice, the Operations teams ensure consistent service delivery to our customers.

Logistics Agents are responsible for the smooth operation of ATG’s live auction technology, whether it be onsite at a clients’ auction or remotely. Their primary role is to ensure live auctions on Proxibid and BidSpotter are launched and running to our best practice guidelines. It involves pre and post auction diligence tasks such as; communicating with clients before the auction, equipment set up and testing, listening to the auctioneers’ chant and relaying the bids to users online, assisting with post auction tasks and providing feedback to ATG.

This role will suit someone who is technologically proficient, especially in audio and video broadcasting, an excellent listener and a natural problem solver. Flexible schedule and hours are available and is an independent contractor role within ATG’s Operations department.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaising with ATG’s clients to understand auction day arrangements and set up
  • Travelling to and attending auction locations
  • Presenting a professional image by being polite, punctual, prepared and dressed in suitable attire, commensurate with the auction
  • Setting up the technical equipment required on site or remotely, and completing checks e.g. internet connections and speed tests, wireless and data networks
  • Implementing ATG’s technology onsite and/or remotely for the duration of the live auction
  • Delivering timely and proficient service level throughout the auction:
    • Following the auctioneer's chant and using the software to relay current bidding information to online bidders
    • Responding to any questions or clarification required from the auctioneer or auction staff, with accurate information
  • Promptly completing post-auction reports
  • Training and assisting clients with product adoption and suitable equipment set up
  • Capture and report any product/technology issues and follow the incident management procedures
  • Other ad-hoc tasks from time to time, such as:
    • Participate in meetings, retrospectives and or root cause analysis (RCA)
    • Conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the products/technology
    • Other services: operate Wavebid clerking, photography, assisting with cataloging
  • Continual communication and collaboration with other members of the Logistics team via Slack channels, phone, or email
  • Communication with supporting departments such as Customer Experience, Client Services and Account Management
  • Submitting invoices/expense reports

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Essential: Excellent technical aptitude i.e. proficient with all Microsoft Office products, phone and video conferencing software (e.g. Zoom, Ring Central etc.) and hardware (e.g. microphones, webcams etc.)
  • Preferred: 3+ years’ experience with live auction webcasting, within the auction industry
  • Advantage: Expertise using ATG technology such as Proxibid, Auction Builder, GAP Toolbox, GAP Live and Wavebid software
  • Excellent listening skills, accuracy, speed and attention to detail are essential for this role
  • Proven exemplary customer service, client facing and internal communication skills
  • Must be a problem solver, anticipating issues and responding quickly
  • Ability to perform at a high level under pressure situations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritize effectively
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willing and able to work non-standard hours, including days, late nights and weekends
  • Willing and able to travel to clients’ businesses or auctions
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Fluent written/spoken English
