Locksmith Assistant

Facilities Management at the University of Virginia is seeking a Locksmith Assistant to join their team. Locksmith Assistants work alongside Senior Locksmiths while performing maintenance, installation, inspection, and repair of all mechanical and electronic access control systems. Locksmith Assistants will assist with Key cutting practices, Coring, rekeys, lock and core changes, key distribution and inventory management systems and processes. Locksmith Assistants will also receive training in locksmithing practices and key systems used by the University.

Duties Include:

• Perform key cutting practices.

• Assist with key distribution.

• Assist with coring and re-coring cylinders for new construction, renovation projects, and routine core replacements.

• Assist with maintaining equipment inventories.

• Use computers in conjunction with workflow practices.

• Perform record keeping, both paper and electronic files.

• Assist in the maintenance, installation, or repair of mechanical and electronic locks, access control system components, and key security systems.

• Comply with instructions from agency programs and related regulations.

• Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.

• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid Driver's License

For this position, the selected candidate will need to complete the required background checks prior to their start date.

Compensation:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour ($37,440 - $45,760 Annually). This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:

Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
