Job Description
The Loan Processor reviews, awards, and adjusts federal and private loan applications for an annual loan volume of 250M. They also resolve Pell grant and loan discrepancies and reconciles frequently to ensure appropriate aid is received by the University in a timely manner. The Loan Processor processes graduate applications, summer aid applications, Winterlude grants, and TEACH grants. Responds to loanmail, IM’s, and phone requests for assistance and troubleshooting of loan issues, providing guidance and counseling as appropriate. They also provide training to staff members that also award and adjust grants and loans as well as create, updates, and maintains procedures for online reference manual.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education financial aid office preferred.
  • PeopleSoft, or other FAMS experience, and Tableau (Data Insights), or similar querying tools preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Critical thinking and knowledge of federal regulations within the Federal Student Aid Handbook to navigate the intricate processing of federal loans and grants.

Responsibilities
  • Review, award, and adjust federal and alternative loan applications for an annual loan volume of 250M using independent judgement based on student/parent request and/or university/federal/alternative guidelines. Adjustment to a student’s individual Cost of Attendance are often necessary and following federal regulations is required.
  • Process reports to locate and resolve loan discrepancies from both internal and external sources. Complete Federal Pell Grant, Federal Loans, and Alternative Loan reconciliation monthly, ensuring disbursements are recorded at respective entities within 15 days of disbursement. May need to contact outside governmental and private agencies to solve issues.
  • Process summer aid applications, awarding grants and loans for Ugrd and Grad students and ensuring aid is eligible to disburse based on intended and actual enrollment.
  • Process updates to graduate loan applications, adjusting aid as necessary to ensure federal and university guidelines are met.
  • Respond to Loanmail, IM’s, and phone requests for assistance and troubleshooting of loan issues.
  • Provide guidance and counseling as appropriate.
