POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician's orders in the patient's chart or per prescription on outpatients. As a member of the Radiology team, the Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the Limited Medical Radiology Technologist must be able and willing to help in other areas of the department. The Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for quality control on the x-ray unit and maintaining the EKG unit.
POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited LMRT education program
  • Current state certification (TDH) required with limited certificate issued in the following categories:
  • Skull, extremity, chest and spine
  • BLS certification required
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
  • Front desk experience and organizational skills are necessary
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required, Spanish preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
  • Hospital or MD office experience preferred
  • Computer/EMR knowledge required
  • Excellent customer service skills are required

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • Able to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with radiologic procedures
  • Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to closely follow established procedures
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment
  • Requires working with frequent interruptions
  • Must project a professional image

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others
  • Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
  • Prepares and orders necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures, and works in urgent patients as needed
  • Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment and keeps logs updated for TJC inspection
  • Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area
  • Responsible for performing radiological procedures in a timely manner
  • Performs radiologic procedures as per procedure protocols, optimizing imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce diagnostic-quality images
  • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions
  • Completes accurate documentation on patient records in the EMR according to policy
  • Answers patient inquiries as needed via phone or in person
  • Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer systems
  • Ensures exams are verified and completed for charging on PACS/RIS systems
  • Ensures charges are given to billing area for daily billing, may be responsible to help with auditing of charges from the Radiology area
  • Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and The Joint Commission standards
  • Maintain equipment and procedure competencies
  • Covers on the front desk, as needed
  • Complete and update all employment requirements, including Health.edu, Employee Health, and Radiology Competencies, Credentials, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
