SalaryLive-in Companion/Mentor needed for young woman of promise who is seeking to get her life back on track. She has finally received diagnosis and initial treatment for significant mental health problems. Starting near ground zero, she needs to learn or relearn a lot of basic life skills in order to successfully lead an independent life and rejoin the work force. Her supportive family here on island is seeking an experienced female to fulfill this position with a year-long commitment.
The Live-in Companion/Mentor should have experience in dealing with individuals with mental health conditions. They should have the attributes of caring, good listening, and patience, as well as the unflappable chill of someone like a First Responder. They should be able to see through B.S. and call if for what it is with no drama, no blame, and be able to redirect and move on.
The Campion/Mentor needs emotional maturity and self-understanding so that they can handle this job sustainably. They need to radiate confidence and assurance in this young woman’s potential to progress and succeed in reclaiming her health and reaching her dreams.
The Companion/Mentor will need to oversee regular taking of medications, trips to doctors, therapists, out-patient rehab programs, etc. They will oversee the learning of basic skills of self-care, from laundry to grocery shopping to cooking, tidyness, and cleaning, as well as simple money-management. They will be particularly needed as a steady presence in the home throughout the night when anxiety might otherwise run high.
Living location will be a neatly appointed 2 bedroom condo/apartment that provides privacy for both inhabitants. One day and one night off a week, not necessarily consecutively.
Pay starts at $52,000/year, with full rent and utilities covered. References requested.
