Job description

Measurement Incorporated (MI) is a national leader in educational assessment, evaluation, and school services. Established in 1980, our company headquarters is in Durham, North Carolina. However, we maintain several office locations across the United States, including New York.

MI is a contracted vendor through the New York State Education Department, providing educational services to eligible nonpublic schools to address learning loss and other impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. We seek a full-time consultant to provide direct services in Erie County. Staff will be working exclusively in a special education environment.

Job Responsibilities

The consultant will have the primary responsibility for providing one or more of the following support services, as appropriate for the contract:

- Provide coaching supports for educators, including pre-observation conferences, observations of lesson delivery, feedback, and modeling

- Design and deliver high-quality, effective and engaging professional development

- Create or curate high-quality, effective and engaging instructional resources for educators in the area of literacy, including unit or lesson plans and assessments

- Support educators to collect, examine, analyze, and use data to drive instructional decisions

- Facilitate meetings or workshops as needed or by request

- Build rapport and positive, supportive relationships through effective communication and collaboration with teachers

- Foster a community of learning through the use of adult learning principles and effective professional development or coaching strategies

- Collaborate with the building administrator(s) to identify areas of growth, as well as areas in need of improvement

- Communicate with the building administrator(s) to share information on the progress of services and address questions or concerns in a timely manner as they arise

- Conduct independent learning to gather current and up-to-date information on trends in literacy teaching and learning

- Document all services planned and provided and ensure accurate record-keeping

- Performs other duties as assigned which relate to the instructional area of expertise

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Education and must hold a current NYS licensure/certification in Literacy/Reading. A background check is required for all applicants. Relevant school-based experience is required for this position, including:

- 5+ years of work experience teaching in a K-12 setting

- Experience designing professional development in the area of literacy

- A record of results in coaching educators or school staff

Additional certification in Literacy Coaching is preferred. Applicants must be able to work collaboratively with the project team and school personnel, possess strong written and oral communication skills, and be fluent in data, program monitoring and reporting.

Additional Information

Position is site-based. Staff will be placed at a local site with reasonable commute. Travel is not required. Applicants must be able and willing to conduct their work in person.

This position is part of a grant contract with the NYSED and will begin upon hire with the potential for a one-year extension.
