Liquor Store Associate

About the role

As a Retail Team Member, you play an essential role in the customer service experience by providing customers with fast and friendly service. You will build relationships with customers, process transactions, maintain floor merchandise and inventory standards, answer questions, and ensure customers leave feeling positive about their visit. Both part-time and full-time positions may rotate between working as a cashier, a sales associate, merchandising, and delivery & Shipping order fulfillment. You will report to the store management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to, the following:

· Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, use our Guest Services script based on the division in which they serve.

· Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed to access UPC codes or prices.

· Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.

· Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.

· Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.

· Use best practices and always be professional when checking IDs.

· Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.

· Issue receipts and any change due.

· Accurately count change back to the guest. No, do not just hand a wad of bills and change to the guest.

· Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.

· Keep work area clean and neat and do not overstock counter with merchandise.

· Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.

· Answer questions and provide information to guests.

· May resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.

· Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.

· Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.

· Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.

· Monitor checkout station, making sure all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.

· Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.

· Carry out directives of management efficiently.

· Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.

· Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.

· Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.

· Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.

· Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally. Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more occasionally. · Other projects and tasks assigned by management.

· Yes, you will have to clean the restroom.

· Attendance and timeliness are required.

Education or Experience

We'd prefer you to have cashiering experience, but if you're willing to learn, we're willing to teach you. We'd like you to have a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED), but sometimes, experience is the best education.

Language Skills

We need you to be able to read, comprehend, and write simple instruction. You must be able to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Mathematical Skills

You need the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals without taking your shoes off. You need to be able to calculate discounts and percentages. We can provide a calculator.

Demeanor and Personal Skills Smiley, Friendly, Helpful

You need to be responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service. Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality are needed for success. You need to be a self-starter with a strong work ethic who completes job assignments in a timely fashion and then looks for the next task.

Hours

We schedule for the needs of our business. Available store hours 9AM - 9PM Monday - Saturday (work week between 9am and 10pm Monday through Saturday). Work evenings, weekend, & holidays

Reasoning Ability

You need the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certificates, Licenses

You must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
