Job title: Linux Data Retrieval and Analysis Specialist
Duration: 3 months 
Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Onsite) 

Key skills: Linux operating systems, command-line interfaces, shell scripting, Data Retrieval, data security, API Design and Development, Public Security Systems Experience 

Scope of Work

  • The purpose of this Scope of Work is to provide specialized expertise in Linux-based Data Retrieval and Analysis for Law Enforcement. 

  • The Consultant shall offer specialized expertise in Linux-based Data Retrieval and Analysis for law enforcement purposes. 

  • The services may include but are not limited to: 

  •  Extraction and preservation of digital evidence from Linux systems. (will include two stand-alone systems) 

  • Forensic analysis and investigation of Linux-based devices. 

  • Recovery of deleted or encrypted data. (I 

  • Documentation and chain of custody for evidence. 

  • The Consultant may be required to provide on-site support for Data Retrieval, analysis, and consulting. The scope and location of on-site support will be mutually agreed upon between the law enforcement agency and the service “provider.” 

  •  The Consultant will deliver the following: 

  • Comprehensive reports on Data Retrieval and Analysis for each case. 

  • Evidence documentation in accordance with legal standards. 

  • Recommendations for further action, if necessary. 

  • Provide status reports and updates to law enforcement agency, to include progress made, find and any recommendations for the course of actions. 

  • The Consultant will adhere to strict data security and confidentiality protocols to ensure that all information and evidence obtained during the retrieval remain confidential and secure.   

  • The Consultant will operate in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including any relevant local, state, and federal laws pertaining to Data Retrieval and law enforcement agency activities.  

  • The Consultant works directly with our department, supports vendors, staff and with other law enforcement resources to support the technical ecosystem of the client. 

  • The Consultant must understand internal processes that ensure the safety for staff and the Consultant.  

  • The Consultant must pass a public safety background check and obtain any needed credentials within thirty (30) days of the start of the assignment. 

  • The Consultant must provide training and one-on-one tutorials as needed or when directed by the technology liaison. 

  • The Consultant will be required to provide on-site support for Data Retrieval, analysis, and consulting. The scope and location on-site will be mutually agreed upon between the law enforcement agency and the service provider.    

  • This person will be the primary person responsible for managing and maintaining the infrastructure for the Client’s Department as it relates to the Data Retrieval

Required Skills 

  •  In-depth understanding of Linux operating systems, command-line interfaces, and shell scripting 

  • Proficiency in configuring, securing, and maintaining Linux servers and systems 

  • Familiarity with encryption protocols, security best practices, and compliance standards 

  • Implementing encryption for data at rest and in transit, ensuring data security 

  • Writing scripts for Data Retrieval, automation, and system integration 

  • Understanding of API design and development principles 

  • Developing and maintaining APIs for integrating the Linux Data Retrieval system with other law enforcement databases and systems 

  • Understanding of information retrieval techniques, indexing, and search algorithms 

  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in the Data Retrieval system. 

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and risk assessment 

  • A commitment to understanding the specific needs of the law enforcement agency and tailoring the Linux Data Retrieval system to meet those needs effectively 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, law enforcement personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the project 

  • Analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that may be valuable to law enforcement 

  • Organizing and maintaining project documentation, including version control and record-keep-keeping
