A Brief Overview
Perform the Quality checks on textile items, fold, sort, and pack textile items in carts for delivery. Minor stocking of textile items on units.
What you will do

  • Arrive prepared to facilitate the beginning of assigned shift operation.
  • Be in correct designated/approved uniform (including official CHOP ID) prior to swiping in for work at designated departmental time clock.
  • Responsible for own record of start time utilizing official CHOP Time and Attendance System within the Department.
  • Verify assignment with immediate Manager on duty.
  • Check equipment prior to usage to ensure correct and safe operation.
  • Inspect all hospital textiles for conformance to customer and hospital requirements for quality and approved markings.
  • All clean processed linens delivered from processing plant should receive a visual inspection for quality prior to delivery to a hospital unit.
  • Knowledgeable on the acceptable level of quality. Acceptable size of a stain or size/placement of a tear or hole in the textile.
  • After inspection separate and log reject linen by rejection type, rewash, ragout, etc.
  • Immediately notify Manager on duty of any situation impacting the safety or well-being of patients, family, or fellow hospital staff.
  • Make suggestions on work or process improvements as applicable.
  • Communicate (verbal and written) relevant operational information to all in a positive and professional manner.
  • Notify Manager on duty of specific needs (i.e., supplies, maintenance requests, unsafe conditions, or other job related issues).
  • Attend meetings as required, such as training/team meetings within shift or previously agreed upon times.
  • Fold and pack textiles to specifications.
  • Fold and inspect hospital textiles according to procedure.
  • Know and follow all procedures dealing with stain, worn, or damaged items.
  • Pack, stock carts, and closets according to par levels. Condense textile items into bulk storage bins by item type, to reduce clutter and enable carts to be utilized for soil collection.
  • Proper record keeping of items packed, stored, and delivered.
  • Linen room assistance.
  • Receive and log calls for extra or SOS textile calls.
  • Check supply status of textile items on computer systems and ready items for delivery.
  • Delivery of minor textile requests.
  • Equipment is left in clean and operable condition.
  • Ensure cart/equipment is returned and stored as designated.
  • Ensure all relevant shift/work/schedule information; etc. is communicated with Manager on duty.
  • Swipe out: duty utilizing designated departmental time clock.
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Prior experience in customer service Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Math capability for translating/interpreting and measure effectively.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Must present professional demeanor, good written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public and all hospital personnel
  • Ability to understand, follow, and explain written instruction and posted biohazardous/radiation warning labels/signage.
  • Must be flexible in duties depending on assignment.
