The XGS Linehaul Clerk has the primary responsibility to provide support to the coordination of linehaul dispatches in accordance with the Linehaul plan. Serves as primary point of contact for company linehaul drivers under dispatch. Works under the direction of the Linehaul Supervisor.

What you'll be doing at XGS...

  • Sun-Thurs
  • 10PM Start!!
  • In accordance with Linehaul plan, direct the dispatch of drivers/carriers from multiple origins.
  • Maintain knowledge of company safety policies and procedures, escalating linehaul safety events to Leadership when appropriate.
  • Assist linehaul drivers under dispatch with breakdown events.
  • Monitor daily freight volumes by lane and quickly identify available capacity if volume is projected to exceed capacity.
  • Ensure adequate spotted trailer levels are maintained to meet anticipated needs based on projected business levels.
  • When securing capacity, book optimal carrier based on availability, rate, and service requirements.
  • Ensure carriers pick up and deliver loads as scheduled.
  • Track carriers throughout transit and update freight movement in AS400 system. Review system data for accuracy.
  • Effectively manage multiple shipments at a time.
  • Serve as primary transportation resource for dock operations supervisors when critical decisions must be made.
  • Communicate clear performance expectations to ensure high-performance work environment and proactively provide specific, balanced, and timely coaching to reinforce and encourage high performance and promote a culture of teamwork.
  • Communicate daily with the Line Haul Supervisor
  • Professionally establish and maintain carrier relationships via electronic and telephonic communication.
  • Communicate and coordinate within operations, billing and other teams to accomplish the work required.
  • Ensure all necessary dispatch information is entered into AS400 system in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain working knowledge of HOS regulations and legal transit times.
  • Watch for exceptions on shipments in transit and troubleshoot issues to prevent service failure.
  • Investigate various reports to ensure data integrity.

We are looking for candidates with...

  • Prior experience as a Transportation Clerk or similar role preffered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • AS400 experience preferred.
  • Tableau / Power BI
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain professional communication and ability to project a positive company image to the public.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Consistently maintains excellent personal attendance records
  • Frequently lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other office machines
  • Clear and understandable speaking voice for the purposes of telephone communication

ENVIRONMENT:

Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in all areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, must be careful while performing onsite services.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
