  • Position Summary
    • The Limited Radiographer is responsible for completing specialized radiographic procedures in accordance with the organizational policies and establish professional standards of care. Limited Radiographer may perform medical radiography on limited regions of the human anatomy. Core, extremities, spine, skull and chest. Excluding computed tomography, the use of contrast media, and the use of fluoroscopic or mammographic equipment and or bone densitometry. This position is accountable for the quality of the examination completed utilizing specialized knowledge, judgement and critical thinking skills necessary to obtain diagnostic images. This position also provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical record; provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education
      • High School degree or equivalent required. Associates Degree / Limited Scope Radiographer post -secondary program. Certified Nurse Aide Program and Certificate
    • Credentials
      • State Required: Current State of NE Limited Radiographer  license.   
      • GPRMC Required/Preferred: Limited Radiographer certificate from the Limited Scope Radiographer Program required, Current Nurse Aide required, Medication Aide licensure in the state of Nebraska required, BLS certification required.
  • Physical Demands
    • Sit frequently.
    • Stand and/or walk frequently.
    • Bend, stoop and crouch frequently.
    • Reach floor-overhead frequently.
    • Ability to hear, speak and see within normal limits for age and gender.
    • Manual dexterity required within normal limits for age and gender.
    • Lifts up to 50 pounds waist to shoulder height frequently.
    • Carries up to 10# 100 feet occasionally.
    • Pushes and or pulls 20 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently.
  • Essential Functions
    • Reviews, obtains and records patient history and reason for examination. Interprets the information needed to evaluate appropriateness of examination ordered. Tailors the examination to meet the specific needs of the patient relative to physical abilities and age-specific needs. When performing procedures requiring the use of intravenous contrast media, reviews the patient's lab values indicating renal function and consults the radiologist with abnormal findings. Reconciles the patient's list of at home medications finding any conflicts with the use of contrast media.
    • Transports patients in a safe manner. Assists the patient in preparation for the examination or procedure in a professional manner ensuring patient privacy and comfort. Performs venipuncture on patients receiving examinations requiring the use of intravenous contrast media. When doing interventional procedures is required to prepare sterile field and assist the radiologist as needed.
    • Operates equipment in compliance with manufacturing specifications, selecting proper technical factors based on the patient's body habitus, pathology, age and physical abilities and limitations. Provides radiation protection for the patient and fellow employees being cognitive of age specific issues related to radiation protection.
    • Demonstrates anatomy requested per examination adhering to department examination protocols and standards of care. Demonstrates competency in clinical function related to assessment, treatment and care of patients. Is knowledgeable in the use of intravenous contrast media and treatment of adverse reactions.
    • Prepares completed images for reading by interpreting physician. Demonstrates competency in using all software applications necessary in the completion of the examination.
    • Takes department call as assigned.
