- Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Duties and Responsibilities of Counselor
- Provide intake evaluations, personal and crisis counseling to students, utilizing one-to-one setting in-person and via a HIPAA compliant tele-mental health platform
- Engage in clinical assessment, DSM diagnoses, substance use/abuse assessments and referrals to off-campus services for currently enrolled PNW students
- Provide preventative educational programming and outreach to students, staff, and faculty
- Complete other administrative duties as assigned
- Participate in Counseling Center programs and meetings and campus outreach as their caseload allows

Education of Counselor
- Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, from a regionally accredited program or closely related mental health field
- Fully licensed mental health clinician in Indiana or license eligible, preferred
Core Competencies of Counselor
- Ability to assess counseling client needs
- Ability to build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with clients
- Ability to establish effective treatment plans
- Knowledge of counseling theories and effective therapeutic interventions
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, learning Valant EHR to make appointments and maintain clinical documentation
- Effective and accurate communication skills via writing and speaking
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students (e.g. of varying ethnicities, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.)
- Training and experience conducting tele-mental health counseling
- Ability to seek consultation/supervision when encountering limits of competence to ensure consistency of service and procedures of PNWCC
- experience providing counseling to trauma clients
Preferred:
- Experience conducting counseling in a university setting
- Knowledge of mental health issues affecting college students
- Ability to seek out consultation when needed to improve clinical services and integrate feedback from consultation into services
