Form of workDESCRIPTION OF POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Light Vehicle/Mechanic II will be responsible for all repairs and services associated with light vehicles and mobile mining equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with an emphasis on diagnostics and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be able to accurately diagnose and repair a variety of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and more. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair automotive systems such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and electrical systems.- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, and tire rotations.
- Inspect vehicles for safety issues and make necessary repairs.
- Test drive vehicles to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
- Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Communicate with customers about the status of repairs.
Repair work to equipment, both in the field and in the central shop. Also, preventive maintenance on equipment used on the mine site. Runs small support equipment to aid the maintenance process such as forklifts, cranes, and tire handlers. Does work as fueling, laborer work, and work in the steam-bay. Clean and maintain work areas as needed and other work associated with the daily operation of a surface coal mine.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants for this position must have prior experience and/or knowledge of tasks associated with service and repairs of light vehicles. Two-year automotive technology degree preferred or two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of mechanical and lubrication systems on mobile equipment a plus. Applicants must have the skills required to perform the above duties on a multi-shift operation.
Demonstrate a strong awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices.
Must be physically capable to work on heights above 50 feet, to perform heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more, to work in confined areas, and to work in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling.
Must be able to work rotating shifts and weekends.
Prior mechanical experience or mechanical technical education.
Ability to perform all duties and activities in a manner which conforms to mine safety requirements.
Successful candidate must be able and diligent in using personal protective equipment (PPE) as warranted by job conditions and Company policy. Such PPE includes: hearing protection, hard-hat, respirator, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and other PPE as required by Company. In addition, physical ability to work in environmental conditions with exposure to the elements of dust, noise, and adverse weather.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
