Position:Light Labor Cooler Maintenance
Location: Westmont, IL
Employment Type: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm and some Saturdays and Sundays during peak seasons
Pay: $15-$17 depending on experience and availability.
Position Summary
The Cooler Maintenance Associate will be responsible for maintaining the largest fresh flower cooler in the Central Design Center. The cooler will house standing orders for wedding & events as well as flowers that support our Order Center, Retail Production, and Sympathy departments. Responsibilities include inventory maintenance of the cooler by keeping it organized, condensing, sorting, dating flowers and keeping water clean to maintain freshness of floral product. Additionally, you will support the Floral Design team by keeping their work area safe by sweeping the area of stems and leaves. Taking out garbage and help with Order Center wrapping so product can be carted and prepared for delivery. This is a Light Labor position and great opportunity for someone looking for flexibility and a place to grow in the floral industry or in a warehouse environment!
Specific Duties
- All flowers come from the wholesale department will need to be organized and prepared for the large cooler daily by removing wrappers and rubber bands and bucketing floral product and placing in the correct area of the cooler.
- Managing the cooler by dating product, rotating product, and adding new product into inventory.
- Sort, clean, and organize existing fresh floral product by pulling and cleaning empty buckets as product is being used and condensing similar or same flowers and repurposing older flowers to the Sympathy department.
- Checking in Wedding & Event flowers by tagging and moving them to the opposite side of the cooler.
- Keeping work areas clean. Sweeping, taking out garbage, and carting product for preparation or delivery.
Skills and Qualifications
- Some knowledge of flowers, floral care and/or degree in horticulture is preferred.
- Basic math/accounting skills required.
- High degree of organizational skills. Experience checking in and maintaining stock.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 25 pounds above head. Lift 30-40 pounds occasionally.
- Push, pull, bend, and stoop and be on your feet for 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work in coolers for extended periods of time. Coats and hats will be provided.
