Summary
Maintains a classroom environment that facilitates the teaching of Adult Basic Education, English Language Development, and Special Education and basic subjects required to pass the GED or equivalent examination. Teaches one or more subjects including, but not limited to reading, mathematics, and language arts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- You'll help them with self-esteem, problem-solving, relationships, and other related issues.
- We need your help to ensure that our inmates have a successful transition back into society.
- Providing general classroom guidance for career planning, social adjustment, LIFE SKILLS, and personal management.
- Defining terminology and indentifying community resources to explain the reality of pre-release activities and plans to inmates and detainees.
- Reviewing curriculum and resources available to enhance inmates' and detainees' particular in pre-release/LIFE SKILLS programs and activities.
- Assessing inmates' and detainees' needs and referring them to appropriate staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
- Valid teaching certificate from the state Department of Education or comparable authority preferred.
