HDR is seeking a Lidar Analyst to support our expanding Survey and Data Acquisition practice group. This position will include direct support for the lidar production center located in Ashland, OR and may include additional support for the HDR Data Acquisition activities across the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lidar Analyst to join our dynamic team. As a Lidar Analyst at HDR Engineering, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the processing, analysis, and interpretation of lidar data to support our clients' diverse projects and initiatives. You will work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with a talented team of professionals to deliver accurate and valuable lidar solutions.

Primary Duties:

  • Provide Processing Support for HDR's Lidar Program under direction of ASPRS Lidar Mapping Scientist and Sr Data Acquisition Staff.
  • Support Data Acquisition group collection activities up to 25% of a fulltime position, may include travel to locations in Western US.
  • Data Processing: Process raw lidar data to generate accurate point cloud datasets, ensuring data quality and adherence to industry standards.
  • Feature Extraction: Identify and extract relevant survey planimetric features (e.g., terrain, vegetation, buildings, etc.) from lidar point clouds.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze lidar data to create detailed elevation models, digital terrain models, and 3D representations of landscapes or structures.
  • Quality Control: Conduct rigorous quality control checks on processed data to maintain high data accuracy and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience or education in geomatics, survey, or geospatial sciences
  • Must be able to execute judgement based on professional experience and understanding of project requirements.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients and the demonstrate expertise in managing several project related tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks. 
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BS degree or higher in geomatics, survey, or geospatial sciences.
  • 1 years' experience collecting, processing, or analyzing Lidar.
  • Experience with point cloud classification software such as Terra Scan or LP360
  • Experience with some or all of the following: conventional survey, GPS/GNSS based data collection, GPS/GNSS post processing, POS-MMS or Inertial Explorer.
  • Experience with drone-based photogrammetry and lidar data collection
