Shift: Day 2x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00) & Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Job Duration: 13 weeks renewable
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a medical-surgical unit. In this position, you will work collaboratively with the RN to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to patients. You will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process and working within the scope of practice as defined by the state board of nursing.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of Med/Surg experience
- Graduate of practical nursing school required

Shift:
- 7a-7p
- 24 hours - flex to 36 hours as needed
- Must be able to flex to 36 hours as needed
- Every third weekend
- Every other holiday
Responsibilities:
- Provides safe and effective nursing care, including the delegation of selected activities to unlicensed assistive personnel within their scope of practice.
- Under the direction of the RN, participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and modification of plans for nursing care for the patient and their family
- Accessing central lines for medication administration or blood draws.
- Serves as the second team member in a two-person independent double check or skin assessments.
- Performs and documents physical assessments in the EHR.
- Delivers patient and family education including education specific to the discharge process.
- Inserts indwelling urinary catheters, Naso-gastric tubes with specific training and competency.
- Collects lab specimens, performs bladder scans and manages wound dressings including wound vacs.
- Participates in unit/hospital projects, which seek to improve patient care.
- Represents the organization in a professional manner in their interaction with others.
- Maintains communication with interdisciplinary practitioners to meet care objectives.
- Provides patient/family teaching as appropriate.
- Coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to meet plan of care.
- Documents plan findings and evaluation according to policy.
- Assures the safety of the patient population served by demonstrating age-appropriate skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. Assumes responsibility for attendance according to policy.
- Meets requirements for mandatory in-services and programs for safety, emergency and competency.
- Supports the development of staff through mentoring, preceptorship and collegiality.
- Performs job functions specific to the area.
- Maintains and supports patients’ rights to care, privacy, and respect.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time within the scope of practice
