Position Summary
The LVN works under the direction of management to provide patient care to patients receiving treatment in the Radiology Therapeutic Department. Specifically, the LVN works within their designated scope of practice to perform nursing interventions to support the comfort and treatment of Radiology Therapeutic patients. These functions include but are not limited to providing direct patient care, collecting health information and biometric measurements, providing information and education to patients/families about what to expect during their visit and reinforcing educational information shared with the patient by the physician or management as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Collects data and performs nursing care interventions based on LVN Scope of Care. Provides input to the management in the formulation of the plan of care. Identifies and prioritizes care based on the patient's individual needs
- Assists physician with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Provides education material and communicates physician advice and instructions to patients as assigned.
- Assists with ordering prescribed diagnostic testing.
- Completes appropriate documentation (i.e. medical record, patient education/handouts, patient changes, assigned projects, educational activities) in a timely, thorough and accurate manner
- Demonstrates current clinical knowledge and technical skill. Demonstrates the ability and flexibility to care for radiation oncology patients. Delivers quality patient care according to policy, procedure, and scope of practice.
- Demonstrates understanding of quality improvement processes and applies these to improve patient care.
- Adheres to infection control, confidentiality and safety guidelines and policies, Observes all safety and health regulations, and ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards and State and Federal regulations.
- Reports any patient problems encountered to the RN, physician and/or manager as appropriate.
- Contributes to professional development of peers and colleagues by sharing knowledge and skills.
- Maintains positive working relationships with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members. Demonstrates consistent professional attitude and behaviors. Practices the principles of effective communication.

- Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
- 1 Year experience working as an LVN in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Experience with Hyperbaric Treatment preferred
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Licensed Vocational Nurse Certification required
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification required
