Licensed Vocational Nurse
The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for collecting data and reports to the RN appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, age, development level, and cultural and religious orientation in a timely manner on the appropriate documentation forms. In collaboration with the RN, gathers data for patient assessment according to hospital/unit policy. Performs completely and accurately including, but not limited to, physical (i.e. assessment for pain, skin breakdown, risk for falls), psychological (i.e. cognitive and communicative skills or development), social status and other patient needs. All data is reported to the RN who oversees patient assessment. Evaluates and documents the patient’s response to the Plan of Care and to interventions. Revises and updates the Plan of Care as evidenced by documentation. Documents patient’s response to teaching on designated form.
Qualifications
One (1) year medical/surgical experience in an acute care facility strongly preferred
Completion of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing Program
Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
Current BLS certification
Current IV/Blood Withdrawal Certification
Basic EKG/tele interpretation experience (must pass EKG/tele exam prior to hire) required
Basic Dysrhythmia, Rhythm Interpretation Certification Course (upon hire preferred), or completion within 3 months of hire
