Job Summary: Assists in the medical care and treatment of students.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists in conducting cursory examinations and physical examinations.
- Assists in evaluation and treatment of students and per state scope of practice for LVN/LPN's. Collects vital information from students about health complaints. Works closely with other healthcare professionals and administrative staff members to provide prescribed medical treatment to students.
- Administers medication, explains proper use of medications and medication management procedures on center.
- Performs routine medical tasks within the scope of license and documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs and Student Health Records
- Administers immunizations.
- Performs duties under the supervision of the Health and Wellness Director or staff RN.
- Takes and records patients' vitals.
- Assists with scheduling students' appointments.
- Assists with maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Follows infection control procedures.
- Documents all procedures, counseling and education provided to students.
- Reports to Health and Wellness Director or Registered Nurse.
- Venipuncture, if certified.
Requirements
Minimum: Active, unrestricted licenses, practical or vocational Nurse's license to practice in state where center is located.
Preferred: One plus years' nursing experience; Job Corps experience desirable.
Knowledge: Sound nursing techniques. Ability to relate effectively to student population. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision. Must maintain CPR certification.
