Salish Cancer Center opened its doors in April 2015 to provide integrative oncology care to cancer patients in the surrounding community. GENERAL FUNCTION
Provides professional and compassionate care to all patients, guests, and visitors of Salish Cancer Center to ensure positive first impressions and overall patient experience. Completes comprehensive screening and intake for patients, guests, and visitors of Salish Cancer Center in
alignment with infection control procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
LPN /RN
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatment.
• Review patient allergies, obtain height, weight, vitals and enter the EHR system.
• Practice Infection Control standards, washing hands in-between patients, after tasks or touching patient’s environment.
• Provide general nursing care in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff daily.
• Clean and sanitize exam tables daily. Report any malfunctioning equipment, including but not limited to Wheelchairs, IV pumps, blood pressure machines, scale, etc. Report defects to supervisor.
• Assist in coordinating patient flow throughout the clinic and escort patients daily to appropriate treatment/exam areas.
• Complete thorough and accurate patient chart prep, including requesting and scanning outside records, obtaining updated patient information, and ensuring providers have a complete picture of each patient’s health at every appointment.
• Requesting authorizations, scheduling, and closing the loop for outgoing referrals.
• Provide patient file maintenance, medical faxing and copying, and project support as needed.
• Cross-train to front office roles including insurance eligibility, prior authorizations, scheduling, supplement sales, copay, and balance collections, opening and closing procedures, and other front office tasks.
• Provides intake and clinical documentation review and collection for newly referred patients of Salish Cancer Center.
• Provide staff administrative support and back-up including answering phones, receptionist duties, typing, as needed.
• Requesting medical records as needed.
• Prioritize incoming phone calls and ensure patient concerns are forwarded to the appropriate staff (including providers or nurses).
Clinical Support Additional Duties:
• Provide onsite day-to-day clinical support; works in close collaboration with the ARNP, medical director, and clinic leadership to implement strategic and operational plans that align with initiatives and operations of administrative counterparts.
• Support departmental responsibilities such as process improvement initiatives, clinical compliance, and risk management.
• Assisting with evaluation, training, time keeping, and performance management of staff within the clinic to include registered nurses, certified medical assistants, patient access coordinators, and Licensed Practical Nurse.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
• Must have a current LPN /RN license with the State of Washington.
• Current BLS certification required, or willing to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• OncoEMR/G4 experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy / IV skills required.
• Oncology experience is required.
