Licensed Practical Nurse - Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurseto join our team! The LPN will work as a Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant with clinical and administrative responsibilities. This position is based in our Center City Philadelphia, PA office with required travel to our offices in Willow Grove, Bensalem and Chalfont. This position will support a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician.

Hours: Monday - Friday, shifts vary between 7 AM to 5 PM

The Position:

The Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.

• Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
• Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
• Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
• Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review.
• Records vitals as per Physician's request.
• Prepares injections for the Physician.
• Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam.
• Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
• Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
• Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
• Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
• Empties and restocks laundry.
• Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
• Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
• Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary.
• Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative
• Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service).
• Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
• Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
• Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications:

• PA LPN License and CPR certifications, knowledge of medical office procedures, and medical terminology.
• Computer skills including MS office. Preferred one year of experience in medical office experience
